Outstanding characteristics of weapon system SA-22 «Greyhound» allow to destroy the ballistic and aerodynamic purposes which can be directed against objects of the Russian civil infrastructure.
Six surface-to-air missile and anti-aircraft artillery weapon system SA-22 «Greyhound» transferred to the Ministry of Defence and will go to bear fighting watch in Sochi, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin reported.
«Today these system will go to armies for the solution of an important fighting task — safety of Winter Olympic Games-2014 in Sochi», told deputy chairman of the government.
Chief of anti-aircraft missile armies of the Air Force of the Russian Federation Victor Gumenny noted that six SA-22 «Greyhound» are transferred on state defense order of 2013.
«The first six fighting vehicles are let out and today will be sent on a route Tula-Ashuluk to Sochi with carrying out in Ashuluk initial fighting firing practice» — told Gumenny. According to him, these two months were very important to train fighting calculations.
«Military rocketeers of the Air Force will use the best efforts to carry out the set fighting task of protection of the southern air boundaries of our homeland, of safety of Winter Olympic Games» — emphasized Gumenny.
Dmitry Rogozin placed special emphasis on reliability of SA-22 Greyhound (Pantsir-S, rus.). According to him, outstanding characteristics of a complex allow to destroy the ballistic and aerodynamic purposes which can be directed against objects of the Russian civil infrastructure.
«As a matter of fact, we stand at the origins today of creation of the whole family of systems of air defense “Pantsir”. It is very important» — added the Deputy Prime Minister.
In the conclusion he emphasized that in the government are full of determination completely to realize the arms program till 2020, and preparation of new weapon systems for 2016-2025 which will have innovative character.
«It will be completely focused on reflection of modern and future threats of our military safety» — told Rogozin.
